Default Chesapeake bay stripers

Does anyone know if you can fish (catch and release) for stripers before the season opens on the 17th? Solomons, Point Lookout area.
Thanks

In NC if you "accidently" catch one before the season "opens" it is just released. The open season is when you can catch AND keep (within the slot). You have no idea what is about to strike....... If you're going to be "accidently" catching Stripers PLEASE use barbless, single hooks as the survival rate is much higher......... Those of "downstream" thank you.......

You can catch and release stripers prior to the opener on the 17th. The only place you are not allowed to do this is in the spawing rivers. As long as your are IN THE BAY proper, you are fine.

Good luck.

You sure can. Just ask the one I released just south of the Bay Bridge last weekend.
