Nothing exciting about this post. I simply did it because I post when I catch and I will post when I don't. We were humbled yesterday. We have been doing well on the wahoo even when most weren't. We were catching some quantity but no quality so far this year. Yesterday during a club tournament, we were skunked for the first time in the new boat. We always have a good time. Enjoy friends on the boat but we worked hard, covered 242nm and didn't get a sniff.
MAN thats a lot of miles to cover and not even get a sniff!!! Sorry you didn't get anything, ESPECIALLY on a tournament day BUT, you pay for those "good days" with "bad days" like that so the good days are that much better! And its unfortunate you had to pay on a tournament day!
Not a boring post, and if this helps make the post more exciting, then I've done my part ....
It was tough out there Tim, we only got one and a handful of dolphin. Had an outrigger clip chafe a line (not my boat) and we lost a NICE dolphin due to a broken line. You'll get them next time.

Mark, as you know, the risk you take high speed trolling is that the percentages for catching anything other than wahoo are extremely low. Off of Mayport, cold green water out to 600' and then found a nice rip. Went south on the ledge and found a nice rip, green/blue water with a temp change just on the other side of the ledge. Down south, it was on the ledge and inside. We worked all that and got nothing.
10-4, that rip was pretty in the afernoon, worked it for 4 hours. I ran it from the 30'01 up to the 30'11 and back down to the 30'00. Did Buck end up with the calcutta $?

Not sure what you mean about other things they stole, engines and electronics is what they got. No lead that I am aware of but I am convinced the police are not telling me everything.
This sucks......if I have to start posting poor fishing trips I will triple my post count in this forum.
Seriously, been there, done that Tim. This time of year can create conditions that look great but turn up completely dead. I blame it on the bait holding on the bottom of the water column.
I wish there was bait holding on the bottom. In the last 4 trips, I had seen exactly 1 flying fish and absolutely no bait anywhere. This last trip, I saw a few tiny flying fish which I hope is a good sign of more bait. I think the simple problem is the inshore waters are too warm and until they cool significantly and push everything offshore, fishing will continue to be poor.
As far as the report, I had posted some better reports and just didn't want to only post the good ones because as you know, they aren't all good. I hope fishing gets better, we don't need another poor year for wahoo, 2 years in a row becomes a trend and that wouldn't be welcome.
Tim you asked for it and here it comes, its about to get COLD here! Now when will the wind stop blowing? The heater on my rig is starting to look better and better!

Mark, I got a big dose of center console last weekend. Although we ran pretty comfortably at 34 knots, the wind was honking from the SW and spray off the port side of the boat was getting blown back on me. I haven't had curtains made yet so I got soaked. I was saying, thank goodness it isn't in the 30's. If this cold weather drops the inshore water temp 5 degrees, watch the wahoo fishing offshore! And yes, that heater always looks good in the winter but you will find that as the captain, your crew will enjoy it while you run the boat.
Richard, 3 boats did catch wahoo but they were south of St. Aug. I will never say there were NO fish, just that we couldn't find them.
Jags, a small group of us are trailering down in a few weeks. Should be 3 or 4 boats. I'll get in touch before we come. Thanks for the reports, keep them coming!
Tim that's where the express/comand bridge comes in handy. I can run the boat and still get the benefits of the heater. As soon as the wind stops I am going again, you are welcome to come when ever you like. Let me know and we will go get them.
I am on a mini retirement and planned on being in Beaufort, but the bite never developed as I expected. So I am going to pound it out down here and go back to work when the right opportunity presents itself. My schedule is pretty open, so let me know if you have some time to fish. I'd like to see the BF bite develope off Savanah, if it happens I will be on the hook up there untill I have 2 tied off.
