Default Two week sail trip from So Cal to Cabo

Ok guys, I was lucky enougff to be invited on a friends boat for a two week sailing trip down to Cabo. My friend is going to sail around the world but me and my buddy are going on the first short leg of the trip. I know its not going to take two weeks to get down there as we will be stopping at different ports and islands, and finally fly out of Cabo. I am mainly going to clear my head and get some relaxing in and try and kill a few fish on our journey. Now I have never fished a sailboat and already know the Captain is not going to want to lower the sails on fish unless they are big where we have too. My buddy is bringing two Penn 50w two speeds but would we be better with a hand line or both? I am not to sure what to troll besides some Muradurs and hootchies because of the varying speed of the boat. A friend told me to bring snubers? I know the fishing will not be all that great till we get far enougff south where the water is warmer. I am hoping we can get some fishing time in some of the small towns we will Moore at. Any gear or tips you can shoot at me would be great. I am ready to get the hell out of L.A. already!

ya leave the lines in the boat and drink rum and dont hit that Island

troll 2 lines, 1 with a jet head and an 11/0 on 40ft of cord with a bungy and the other corner with a 80 tiagra packed with 200lb braid and a cedar plug rerigged with wire leader.

go to mag bay launch your dingy and take spinning rods into the mangroves watch out for the waves and catch wide open halibut on scampies or crocs.

good luck

I dont think I would venture into the Mag Bay mangrove area with a deep keel....

The fish you troll for can be to big for hand lines so I think I would just take the two 2 trolling rods and some swimming plugs+trolling weights for when its slow and hootchies on top for when the wind is pushing you faster.
