Default PETA at it again, are they serious?

Hey guys,

So today someone passed this along to me on our forum at Burlington Boatyard...

http://burlingtonboatyard.com/forum/...php?f=34&t=116

It is from an Albany Newspaper. I checked to make sure it was Halloween, not April Fools...honestly.

PETA, unfortunately, is dead serious about wanting to end sportfishing... I laugh like everyone else when they get way out in the ozone, but with the current political situation they're no laughing matter at all. Keep a close eye on them and do whatever you can to disrupt their activities.. Consider it a form of pest control.

Over in Europe, the anti-fishing zealots have actually gotten one law passed in Germany that outlaws catch and release fishing... Yep, if you go fishing you're supposed to "humanely" kill anything you catch. I think Europe is where we're headed if the left wins big next Tuesday. Hope I'm wrong, but don't think so. In the next few years I expect we'll be losing more and more of the things we've taken for granted.

Damd PETA, bunch of F$*KIN hippie fish huggers ! I fully support catch and release and also keep what you tend to consume without being a glutten of the sea. But imagine if they do get their law passed and how fishing will be done in an underground matter just as prohibition was done in the 1920's. There will be boats of guys like us pretending to go cruising around for a joy ride and then whiping out a rod and reel just to get a little fix of fishing when no other boat is around. Ohh how depressing the world would be......

There is a solution for the problem. I have it on good authority that the PETA folks taste like chicken.

PETA, unfortunately, is dead serious about wanting to end sportfishing...
Well said! Consider a couple of things just from the last two or three weeks. About Oct. 1, PETA went to the head guy at Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream (granted, he's a tree hugger himself, but not quite like the PETA folks) and asked him to consider using mother's milk (human mothers, that is) for his ice cream instead of milk from those poor, abused cows. My niece told me about this, and I assumed she was kidding me....but she wasn't. As my niece (who has nursed three kids) said, "yucch, can you imagine?" Well, no, I can't but that's PETA. And as an old farm kid, does anybody here know how a cow feels when she isn't milked regularly? I suppose PETA's answer would be just, well, don't have any cows.

And in Switzerland a new law is just now going into effect requiring a bunch of pet "reform" deals. It is so effed up I can't even bear to repeat it. Just Google "Switzerland new pet laws" and you''ll get enough links for a few hours of irritation. Couple of main points: ALL dog owners (regardless of age, prior experience with dogs, etc.) will now have to attend a course, at their own expense, to become "certified" to be a qualified dog owner. Feeding, proper care, yadda, yadda. Also ALL pet animals (including fish, lizards, birds, ALL pets) get classified on their "socialization needs" and then the owner must provide appropriate socialization, either by buying a second whatever, or, alternatively, taking the pet out at certain specified intervals to "socialize" with others of its kind. I AM NOT MAKING THIS UP.

Oh, one other little thing might interest all of us more: fishermen will not be allowed to use live bait anymore under any conditions, will not be allowed to practice catch and release (as in the post above, it "maims" the fish, and I guess is humiliating to them too....but you can still kill them.)

Here in the U.S., besides their eco-terrorism against university labs, SUV's and whatever else THEY don't like, they have called for an end to ALL dog and cat private ownership by 2020. (They say it inherently damages the animal's "dignity", "privacy" etc. to be made a pet of. (Completely disregarding at least 10,000 years of dog/human history and maybe longer with the cat.)

Yes, don't ever think they aren't serious. They are dangerous, they are nutz, but they are serious.

I remember when they were dong "Sit In's" at public boat ramps around the country. I kept waiting for them to show up in Central Florida and sit at the end of the Port Canaveral Ramp. That would have been great. I would have loaded up a cooler and some lawn chairs and watched that. If you aren't' fast enough and block one of the ramp's to long loading your boat people get very vocal. I could imagine a bunch of nuts sitting on the ramp.

I wonder how much traction they would provide for pulling back up the ramp?

PETA are a bunch of fools. A couple of years ago they were caught murdering dogs and cats in NC and VA and then dumping them in the trash to collect money from the Humane societies.

Just Googled "PETA and dumpsters" and got this. Pretty funny. Hippocrates.

kwick release

MANY, many thanks for that link. I had heard of this problem, but not seen the documentation. This is part of their plan to eliminate cats and dogs as pets in the U.S. In some areas they are trying to get into the schools, elementary schools, to feed this B.S. to the little kids.

it always has been that way in germany. our fishery law in bavaria is from 1895 and there has never been any sportfishing allowed here. you fish to get food. no live bait, no live wells. you kill everything that is over the size limit and when you have your daily limit you have to stop fishing period. good thing: if we catch a undersized fish and it is hurt we have to keep him and it counts to the limit. so no supid throwing back of dead or almost dead fish oh i forgot: no night fishing, only 2 rods per person and we have to pass a fishing license test. before that we have to go to fishing school for 40 hours and that test is damn hard. when we pass it we have a license and with this we can buy permits to fish bodies of waters. a fishing club costs about 400 dollars a year. ohh i have to add: in 95 percent of the bodies of water here fishing from an engined boat is not allowed. 2 years back even using a fish finder was forbitten.
all that sounds hard but it always has been like that and i think it wont change.
the funniest fishing rule: if you fish drunk and hurt a fish or do something stupid and the police sees you youll loose all driver licenses and even a pilot license, because the law says that if your not responsible enough to care for fish you shouldnt take part in the traffic.

good luck guys!!!!
