Default Canyon Runner Bluefin Report - 14 for 20 on Bluefin 58" to 66"

Capt. Mark DeBlasio took the Tim O'Conner charter down for some bluefin action dwon at the Lobstar Claw Monday and once again found some great fishing. They trolled the afternoon without bite and ended up putting it on the hook at 7pm and started chunking no action on tuna but they caught a ton of live bait during the evening and had a double header of bluefin starting around 4am. Thereafter they had a fish on almost all the time with around 20 bites in the morning including double and triple headers. They ended up bringing 14 fish to the boat in the 58-66 inch range keeping one and releasing the rest. Needless to say this is the only place we'll be going until that bite dies out.

yes they were - that is one of the keys to getting the bites particularily when the bite is slow for other boats.

With any live bait you don't need to hide the hook so we hook it right through the tip of the mantal.

at night the squid are attracted to the lights (underwater) from the boat. Then net the suckers.

Use a spinner with a small butterfish chip When the squid start eating it use a dip net Much easier than jigging them and faster too
