If y'all are sitting on the fence about whether to go to Venice in the next few weeks, maybe this will get you over the top. Went last Friday and got these beauties. The big 'un is 181#, the next biggest was 113#, didn't weigh the other yellowfin or any of the blackfins in the background.
Wow, finally made it back to this post. I couldn't figure out how to post*a bigger*picture that didn't exceed the 50kb file size limit. I have that same picture in my photo album. It resizes big enough to see decent. Check it out:
I went out with Capt. Jeff Thierry on the "Dorado". He is a friend from the Island. We were chumming and chunking with pogies, bonita and blackfin. All the bigger yellowfin came off of big bonita chunks. The blackfin were pounding the pogies about as quick as you got them in the water.
Scroll down until you find Chris Dalton or search for "dalton". I post under capt_dalton if I'm running a trip and just Chris Dalton if I'm along for the ride.
I counted 17 boats when we anchored up. The mouth of southwest pass was kicked up pretty good, SW winds. I saw several decent sized boats turn around. A 32' Twin V followed us out. The "Dorado" is a 37' Chris Craft. Makes a pretty good hole in the waves.
