Default Alutecnos Gorilla 12 Question

I really like the looks of the Alutecnos Gorilla 12, but I have a concern. They are manufactured in Italy, which seems like it could be a problem with warranty or service issues. Is there a U.S. warranty and service location?

Can anyone offer feedback regarding reel performance and reliability, and particularly, on how warranty or service issues have been handled?

Thanks,

Dick

Dick Cant tell you about the Gorilla but I have been using a set of 8 of the 30wts and 50wts for the past two years and they have been flawless. I hear their service center is top notch give them a call I havent had to use them.

Another alternative is Capt Harry's Tackle in Miami. They're a major retailer of Alutecnos reels and they either service on sight at their store or go to their service center.

just for your info. if you purchase a reel from an european dealer, you have by european law 2 years warrenty. you could ask the usa service center if the handle those reels too, what they should...

Thanks for the feedback everyone, and thanks for the compliment, bridgeman.

I have another question about this reel. It's advertised that itwill pull 40# of drag, but it has no harness lugs. I have a disabled left arm and can't deal with a lot of drag without a harness. In fact, I can't imagine anyone being able to dealthat much drag without a harness. The reel clamp uses four screws, so I doubt a "Get Strapped Bracket" will work.

I guess that's where they get the name... You have to be a Gorilla to use it

Anyone have a suggestion regarding a solution that would allow the use of a harness?

Dick

If the mounting system is like the 30s and the 50s the standard GS bracket wont work. All of my TLDs have the GS brackets and I took one off to check. The Alutecnos has a awesome four bolt pattern to mount the reel. That is not to say GS doesn't make one for the Alutecnos.... Mark

I would give GS a Call.

Thanks offshore. I think I'm about to blow off the Gorilla and go with the new Accurate B2-30. It's a little heavier and a few more bucks, but it's made in the USA,a two-speed, and has harness lugs. Three features I like that the Alutecnos doesn't have.
