Re: Funniest thing that you ever hooked.............
I caught a large plastic trash bag on the shotgun WAY BACK lure while trolling for tuna. i hooked it right through the two handles and with rough weather and strong currents, this bag actually was making runs on me!! haha. we were all convinced it was a fish for the first 2 minutes or so, before one handle broke and it just popped up to the top for me to reel in. i guess it could have been a fish that ran into a plastic bag and got off that way, but i doubt it. pretty funny, because that thing put on a good fight!!
Re: Funniest thing that you ever hooked.............
ouch!! hooked as bass on a bang o lure one time and while trying to get him out of the bottom off the boat he caught my index finger pretty deep. After my buddy got the fish off I had to push it through and manuever it so it wouldnt catch the back of my fingernail. That 14in bass sure wasnt worth all that!!
Re: Funniest thing that you ever hooked.............
caught a red and yellow Marboro sleeping bag... the "creature" er... bag moved very strangely and seemed to breath in the water. Made me nervous until I got it up close... nothing inside thank God!

Funny, I once caught a nice size plastic bag, also. Put up a great fight! Another time I was pluggin for stripers and hooked what I thought was a lost lobster or anchor line. (on a Creek Chub Pikie) Turned out to be a 9 pound fluke!

Tommy-- I cringe looking at that picture, good thing you had a doctor with you. How did it catch your lip?
i had a rod in the leaning post and went to cast, caught the rod behind me and when it went by it slapped me in the cheek and on the way back it hooked me in the lip
Re: Funniest thing that you ever hooked.............
i hooked a seagull when i was striper fishing...it SUCKED. the striper were blitzing like crazy and my buddy and i cast our lines in the middle within seconds my buddy yells fish on and then i had a bite...i started reeling then i heard SQUUAAAAAK, SSQQUUAAAAAAAAK! apparently seagulls like rat-l-traps too!
Re: Funniest thing that you ever hooked.............
Well I didnt hook it, my "friends" while I was naping decided it would be funny to attach a five gallon bucket to the 80w one day while we were trolling. I was knocked out and then all I hear is SCREAMING drag and im in the back of the boat in a flash, they are yelling "GET IT GET IT" and im strapped in. Well my "friend" is telling me that he has maintain this speed (7kts) or else I will lose it. So 20 min and 500+/- yds later I have my first blue boatside. Blue 5 gallonn bucket that is. Any body who thinks that a five gallon bucket wont kick your ass needs to try it. Have the pic on my wall to this day "Bens first big blue"
Re: Funniest thing that you ever hooked.............
fishing live shrimp at dog river several years back with the wife, i rigged her shrimp and she cast, before her shrimp hit the water a large brown pelican swoop down from a tall piling and caught her shrimp & hook before it hit the water, she screemed and asked what to do, i told her not to reel it into the boat! about that time the pelican became free and flew off, there were about 6 to 10 boats that saw what happened, all were rolling on the floor laughing, fishing with the women folk can be very memorable.
