Default Accurate's New Coffee Grinder

Saw a prototype Accurate Spinning Reel at the Houston fishing show. What a beast!
Looks kind of Van Staal'ish but very beefy. It's got two huge drag washers, one on top of the spool and one below. It will be a great reel for pitching poppers and iron to 100+ pound tuna. The expected price tag of around $800 is going to be hard for some humans to swallow though. I caught a big yellowfin last year on a shimano spinner spooled with spectra, a great experience when you expect the reel to explode at any moment.

wow! $800

is the reel for offshore use like that tanker VS400 that cost something like 1800. or is it going to be a surf/inshore reel?

any pics of this beast?

Id like avet to come out with a spinning line.

It's definately an offshore capable reel. Very substantial, manual bail return, beau coup ball bearings and drag washers the size of beer can tops. I wish I had taken a picture because it makes the VS300 look positively spindly. It was milled out of a solid block of aluminum. I'm surprised they didn't find a way to put harness rings on it

I wonder why the accurate website mentions nothing about the prototype? I would think they would want some people to start talking about it.

any word on when Van Zebco is going to roll out the new line of reels (or if they going to do that)?

Im still waiting for an AFFORDABLE surf reel that is waterproof. (hint hint avet )
