Guys,
I'm not sure if this has been covered here, but it's crunch time and we need your help.
There is a move afoot by several environmental groups that want to close most all beaches to ALL traffic, cars and humans to protect approx 50 Piping Plovers.
The hearing is April 4, 2008. If they win you will not be allowed ANY ACCESS to the beaches in the Cape Hatteras National Seashore. No driving, no walking, no fishing, NOTHING!
I'm sure there ar a few posters here that have enjoyed the incredible fishing that Cape Point, Hatteras Inlet, and Ocacroke Inlet has to offer. Not to mention the incredible windsurfing, kite boarding, surfing and just plain relaxing on the beach, OBX Style.
This effort is not the result of OBX/NC goverments, but a group of outside environmentalists.IT WILL DEVASTATE THE ECONOMY OF THE OUTER BANKS!!!!!ESPECIALLY HATTERAS ISLAND!!!!
Here are some links to the local groups who are waging a brave fight to save their way of life. Please visit these sights and help if you can:

I'm not anti-environment, but this is a stupid idea brought on by outside interests, that will end a way of life for thousands of people. When the Cape Hatteras National Seashore was formed many years ago, access to the beach for both vehicles and humans was addressed and "guaranteed" by the National Park Service.
WE NEED HELP!
