Default Shimano Trinidad Reels

Hello all, I have been looking to get a nice jigging reel. The Shimano Trinidad is the reel that I would like to get. The question I have is ??? Go with theregular 40 or the 40 Narrow. What is the benefit of going narrow aside from weight? The Narrow also costs about fifty more dollars. Thank You. JOE.

The idea behind the narrow jigging, is so you do not have so much width to spool across while you are using them. Since they are not levelwind, it just makes a smaller spool to go across. I have two of them on Trevala jigging rods, I use them both for butterly jigging, and I have been very pleased with them.

What Killin' time said. In jigging you're constantly reeling in the line and with the narrow spool, it's easier to keep the line level across the spool.

The Trinidad 16N and 40N were specifically designed for that. The TN 40N having the heavier drag.

Tightlines,

PB

I have two of the 40N's on jigging rods and it's an absolutely perfect reel for that application. Have caught YFT, AJ's, tilefish, cubera, roosterfish, etc. on that rig. Both of mine are filled with 65# spectra and have more than enough capacity in the narrow configuration.
