Default Caring for ilander lures

Wanted to see if any of you guys had a little treatment for the ilanders after they are used in salt water. It kind of seems like they get kind of matty and lose the desired appearance/texture after you put them in salt water. I have heard water and conditioner?? Any other tips would be appreciated

I have used conditioner and maybe it helped a little, I'm curious if there's something clever that works better too.

Did you mix the conditioner in water or just rub it through the skirt?? I really think the presentation to the fish is a lot better when those things are right out the pack. Sure would be nice to use a $20 bait more than one trip

I used it straight. It was mixed with water when I rinsed it. When it dried out it looked a lot like it did before - FONKY.

Still works though.

Gotta be a better way.

I used that spray Iland sells with the fine tooth comb and it returns the skirts to almost like new. then I return them to the tubes that they came in as well to keep the skirts shaped correctly. Seems to work well for me. That Iland spray bottle lasts a long time too.

I use the hair conditioner for .99 from the grocery store. Dilute a little in some water in a pan and submerge for a few minutes. Rinse a little, Hit them with a comb, and then spin dry. ( hold by the head and spin like a paint brush) I've got quite a few years on some, and still look great!

I use a bucket with water and some hair conditioner. Comb them out with a very fine tooth comb, like ones used for hair lice, and replace then in their original tubes.
