Default Perco outriggers

Hi all, I just got a set of 15' Perco outriggers and have a few questions, first these mount in the gunwales like a rod holder. first off should these be mounted the same as the rod holders, that is so when the outriggers are laying down in the holders they would be facing the rear of my boat? I would think so but you can mount them either way as it would change the 45 degree anger of the holder. Turned around they would face forward when in the down position, like going under a bridge. also they don't seem as likely to come out in rough seas as easy as when mounted the apposite of the rod holders. Also these aluminum outriggers screw together, it seems like once I put the rigging together I will have to keep them together all the time as the rigging lines will be run thru the guides so it would be a mess to unscrew all the sections with the line attached. Has anyone replaced the guides with quick disconnects to get the lines out of the guides quickly? This way I could take them apart somewhat quickly as my boat is trailered, other wise I will have to lay them inside the boat whenever I am not using them. How do you guys do it? Thanks for any help. Mike

Default Re: Perco outriggers

Most everyone mounts the gunnel mount outriggers so they face backwards when they're turned in, but mount them how ever you want... As long as they turn out where you want them, there's no wrong way to mount them.....

I have t-top mounted taco outriggers, but I always remove the poles and place them in the bottom of the boat when trailering... Mine are the push-button poles that can be collapsed, but it's still a pain in the butt to collapse them and extend them each time you want to use them... Mine stay in the bottom of the boat under the cover when they're being stored...I don't ever collapse them... When I trailer, I lay the extended riggers in the bottom of the boat and put them in the outriggers before we take off from the ramp...
