Default NY Seminar Update & Master Billfish Tournament Win with Capt. Ray Rosher

In the spirit of St, Patrick’s Day I just wanted to let everyone know that we will again be pouring 2 free kegs of beer at our NY Seminar next Saturday, March 29. As always, please arrive early for the free continental breakfast and hang around until the end for the $7500+ in door prizes.

Please note that we only have approximately 35 tickets left to sell as of this morning and I really don’t expect these to last very much longer. As such, please call this week to secure your tickets at 732-842-6825 or just shoot us an email at info@canyonrunner.com.

I would absolutely love to shut down the phones by Friday so please ask about group discounts and we will be happy to give you a deep discount if you pick up 4 or 5 tickets at once.

Master Billfish Tournament

On the fishing front, Capt. Mark DeCabia is finishing up strong down in Florida. He fished his second tournament of the year with Capt. Ray Rosher of the Miss Britt participating this past weekend in the Master Billfish Tournament. The top 28 boats in Florida compete during this two day event and Capt. Ray Rosher and his crew Capt. Ales Castellanos, Rob Ramierz, Rich Murphy and his wife are handsdown one of the best in the business. Capt. Mark and I were just grateful and honored as hell that he allowed Capt. Mark to ride along and we hope to reciprocate all summer long on trips to the canyon when the season slows down to the south.

Capt. Ray has been running the HMY sponsored 52’ Viking Yacht “Miss Costa” and as always doing exceptionally well on the tournament scene. On day 1 they released 8 sails but were in second to another good friend of ours Capt. Matty Tambor of the Owls Nest who this winter showed us all the tricks involved in daytime swording and who I plan to spend a few days offshore with this Summer on their 70’ Merritt – I can’t wait!

Day 2 started off extremely well with a quad going 4 for 4, then single, then not a breath of wind till 3 minutes before lines out when they spotted a free jumper, blasted over to him made a cast got him on to tie for 1st with 14 sails for the tournament. Unfortunately they lost out on first place on time as Capt. Matty was right there with 14 sails as well.

So congratulations and thanks to two great crews who we were fortunate enough to work hand-in-hand with all winter longer. There is nothing like local knowledge and when you are getting it for the best around you listen to everything they say and watch everything they do as if it was the first time you held a fishing pole in your hands to make your first cast. Again, we can't thank all those folks enough for their hospitality all winter long - everyone from Capts. Ray and Alex to Capt. Matty and the rest are first class. I can't wait to get them up here this canyon season and put them into limit catches of yellowfin and maybe a few big-eyes on the troll.
