Default Crimpng 40 lb mono?

I currently am fishing 40 lb Momoi on my TLD 25's. We've been using a 60 lb mono leader (uni-uni connection) and then crimp to a small spro swivel to 80 lb fluoro leader to our baits. It all winds on, but when the reels are loaded with line sometimes its hard to get the knot on without it contacting the top bar on the reel.

Are there crimps small enough to crimp directly to the 40 lb mono? I would like to eliminate to 60 lb leader (one less connection and also easier to wind on without it). I could tie to the leader, but would rather crimp if its possible.

I don't think you will find too many crimps for 40lb mono. Some of the smallest crimps I have seen have been for 60-80lb mono.
If you want to get rid of the 60lb leader, then I would just tie a palomar (or other favorite knot) to the SPro swivel and then crimp/tie your flouro to the other side of the swivel.
Or put a bimini in the end of your 40lb mainline and just cats paw to the one end of the swivel.

Good luck,
Kg

Just curious why you would use a 60lb. leader and then the fluoro. Looks to me like that's just another place for failure.

here is a chart i found helpful. i sometimes crimp fluke rigs or bass hooks because i can crimp faster than i can tie. 40lb works fine.

40 lb mono is pretty easy to tie. We usually tie even 80 lb to the swivel with a Palomar knot. Crimps and small line are iffy at best in that unless you really clamp down hard, which weakens the mono, they are prone to slip.

Why not take some line off the reel to make space for the windon?

I agree with the people up regarding not to crimp 40 pound mono, it can be done, but a knot to your flouro leader is safest and slimmer than a swivel.

I can crimp faster than I can tie a knot, I do like the palomar knot, but its difficult to tie dircectly to a small spro swivel with a 15 ft leader already on it. We don't want to use snap swivels, that won't allow us to wind on and also less tuna bites.

tie a double on the 40 with a bimini or a spider hitch then either blood knot or albright the flouro to the double. unless you have a spinning issue eliminate the swivel. swivels going through your guides isn't healthy for any rod

Ditto, do away with the 60 lb leader.
