Re: okuma titus silver 50 II rebuild for my personal gear, i have a full set of accurate two speeds that i use for long range tuna fishing. i purchased these (and paid full retail) because i believe that they offer the highest power to weight ratio of any reel out there. my personal rigs for local rockcod are a pair of shimano calcutta 300 te's (don't worry about shimano ever giving ME a break). i upgraded the drag washers and matched them up with trevala rods. i chose the $350 calcutta te's because of the tight tolerances and smooth cranking. i am at the point in my life where i can afford anything that i want, and i want the best.
you may have noticed, however, that i have not done a rebuild post on a high end reel for quite sometime. on another board, a young man responded to my post about the accurates by saying, "well, that's nice, but not all of us are rich ......". that point was well, and humbly, taken. the whole point of this okuma post, and others like it, is to offer a way for a person with a limited budget to be able to take a lower end reel, fix it himself, and then go out and have it work the way it was originally intended to.
