On the old forum I posted a thread checking into new teaser reels. After much research I decided that the birdsall reels would be best for my situation. This was confirmed when I received the reels yesterday. Very high Quality well constructed reels. I had asked the company the best way to mount them under a fiberglass top, and was told to use 4 one inch screws. After examining the 10 inch ten lb reels I knew this wouldn't fly. So today I called them and asked for a pair of backing plates be sent to me so I can thru bolt them on the hardtop. They informed me that this was the first ever request they have had for backing plates and they could make some out of 1/8 inch alum. No deal I said, I want 1/4 inch stainless. Long story short I am having a co here custom make a pair of plates to use. It just blows me away that a company that makes such high quality reels thinks 4 one inch screws will hold with out cracking the fiberglass. If anyone is searching for some teaser reels let me know, and I will post some closeup photos of these.
I have uploaded three photos of the reels in an album. Notice that the reel is enclosed to help protect it from the environment. I placed a dollar bill on the third to give a reference to the size of the reel. When I get them mounted in a few weeks I will post a photo.
Auguste, I just assumed that was the way is was, due to the fact that capthiball only rec red x's on my album while I can still see the photos of the reels. Otherwise I don't know what is going on. Anyhow it may be another good reason to join the CC.
