Default 2 Piece Spinning Rod for Albies/Bonito/Bass

For the last couple of seasons I've been fiddling around with a variety of spinning rods used primarily for casting to albies and bonito and occasionally to pull bass out of the rips. Given the rod storage situation on my boat (and preference not to carry rods to and from the boat), I require 2 piece models that I can break down and store in the head. So far, the G Loomis PR904-2s (7'6", 8-17 lb) has worked out best for me. I've also tried the G Loomis HSR 1021S (8'6", 12-20 lb) model which I really like (especially the extra backbone for decent size fish), but is a little long for the boat at 8'6". I plan on buying a couple more rods and wanted some thoughts as to other quality 2 piece spinning rods that people have had good luck with.

Thanks

I enjoy using a St. Croix Wild River Salmon/Steelhead rod rated for 8-17lb, but it is 8'6". It does do well casting those light softbaits when the Albies get fussy though. It does come in heavier and lighter versions too. It sounds like you already have some great equipment though.

Thanks for the response TideRunner. Ideally, I'm going to go with rods in the 7' - 8' range if possible.

I like buy good tackle also, but it's hard to find anything wrong with an Ugly Stik

Do a search on the BWS1100-7 & BWS1100-8

Cabela's has a line of rods they call Salt Striker rods that you can get in a 2 piece config. I took a close up look at them a few weeks back and they appear to be pretty nice.

I bought an Ugly Stick Light the other day for $44 bucks and it is a sweet rod! Cork handles, nice guides, and super fast action. Cant go wrong with that!

I've got to second the ugly stick. Just because they are inexpensive doesn't mean they aren't any good. I've got 3 two piece rods that I have caught everything from bonefish to 30lb red fish on. They make an ugly stick lite which I like better than the regular. The regular can tend to get a little heavy especially if your casting all day. The last guide I fished with had 6 of the lites on board.
