Default Alaska Fishing Report from Capt Rob 9/25/2007

Well, I have been too busy to report the last couple of weeks so I'll roll it into one report to wrap up the 2007 fish massacre.

3 weeks ago I had Jim Bean, Troy, Kent and Russ. It was my first week fishing back in Glacier Bay (National Park) since May. We had some missed oppurtunities but still came out with a nice load despite bad weather.

Here is me with a 46, 60 and 92 lb halibut caught in about thirty minutes. I took the fellas up to a river drop off to catch silver salmon and had to stay with the boat. Also, Jim didn't go that day because we got beat up by the wind the day before. Dang it, Jim, I wish you had come with us. NEXT TIME!

Here is me and the boys fishing and "yours truly" is hoisting another 60 lb halibut over the rails of the "Icy Rose". These kind of shots are hard to get (P.S. Capt. Jim. T on the Raven was catching silvers trolling around me!!!).

2 weeks ago I had some FISHERMAN. These guys knew the game and it showed. They even fished my old grounds of Homer, AK. Well we loaded up with Albert, Dean, Don and Mark. We had a 180, and here's a pic of a 142 next to a 128, along with some other really nice ones!

My last week I had a crew from North Carolina / Georgia whose main character was Jim "salmon guts" Walker. We had some nasty weather but loaded up the fish with several in the 100 lb class. Here's a pic of a 109, 87 and others.

Man I wished I had taken more pictures. The guys are "supposed" to email me some and if they do I'll post more.

Me and the Icy Rose are back on the water in May of 2008 back in Alaska. Until then I will be in Louisiana fishing and hunting - life is good.

Take care and good luck!

-Capt Rob

It sure gives the Real Alaskans the warm and fuzzy when a dsmf'r sets up shop and starts killing all the breeder halibut.
