Default Canyon Runner Reports - 8/30-31 (150# Sword & 15 Yellowfin)

Capt. Phil Dulanie and Capt. Mark DeCabia took the Greg Mulligan charter out Thursday to Friday on their 5th overnighter in a row. They ran right to the northeast corner of the Carteret and anchored up in 550 feet of 77 degree water. They immediately caught a ton of squid and put every rod out with a live squid. They started to pick fish early but it slowed down and they only ended the night with 5 yellowfin but spiced up the trip with a nice 150# sword that ate a live squid down 70 feet on 60# flouro.

Capt. Mark DeBlasio had the Kevin Corradino charter out Thrusday to Friday and took them for a long troll from the South Toms to the Lindy and caught 3 longfin and 1 yellowfin on the troll picking most of the fish in the Carteret on the northeast corner. Capt. Mark got all his troll bites on a new spreader bar we’ve been experimenting with which is a mini-rainbow green machine spreader bar. His last 9 fish in a row came on this bar. He decide to follow the water moving south and set up for the chunk in the Lindy in 450 feet of water and pick 6 for 10 through the night on nice yellowfin. Most of the fish were 70-80 pounds and were baited all on live squid.

Guys - You're Killing Me on these Picture Requests!!!!! LOL

I just posted about 15 pictures late last week on this site and have about 5000 on my website at www.canyonrunner.com so please enjoy them all.

I promise to get the pictures from these trips up as soon as the cameras are off the boat. Again, they are fishing every single day and are only on land 2 hours between turning around and going right back out again.

This time of year we do back-to-back-to-back-to-back overnighters where we leave the dock at 10am on Sunday, return 10am on Monday go back out at Noon on Monday, return Noon on Tuesday, go back out at 2pm on Tuesday return 2pm Wednesday and so on and so on and so on. Last week one boat did this for 6 full overnighters in a row and the other boat did 5 full overnighters in a row.

As such, downloading pictures off the cameras are not a top priority with only 2 hours to cut the fish from the previous trip, clean the boat, cut 8 flats of butters for the next trip, pack out and ice up, take a shower, buy food, fuel up, water up etc. etc. etc.

Again, if you ever get lonely for some pictures to look at go to www.canyonrunner.com and there are 5000 pictures there to enjoy covering the last 10 years.

Seafox - the live squid are holding deep even right on the bottom. So we string together 3 to 5 of the old fashion squid jigs in a row and add 16-32 ounces of weight and drop it down to the bottom on a reel packed with spectra line. Then just reel up and they jump right on.
