Awesome, thanks for the reply...I'll be arriving in Bahrain in 5 days, then headed to either Ras Tanura or Damman to one of the Aramco compounds. Once I get settled in, I'll be looking to do some fishing in my spare time. Are there any charters near those towns that you know of? Web searches haven't turned up any positive results.

I guess there is no "gulf stream"? How far to the blue water?? Are their standard pelagics over there?

Dash, I lived in RT for years, family is still over there. From the beaches you can fish for Hamor (Arabic for Grouper) best if you invest in a speargun. You definately nee to take a dhow to Al Juraid island for some snorkeling/diving. The Red Sea trip is a must, some of the most spectacular marine life in the world!!!

Have fun, save your pennies.

Don't know where to go, but I know they've got bluefish over there.

A few years ago there was an article on sailfishing in the Persian gulf in one of the sportfishing mags. Can't remember which one.

Fellow crewmembers used to troll up some Mahi as well, but that might have been in the N. Arabian sea.

Absolutely spectacular sportfishing in the Gulf and Red. I fished the sardine(I think they were at least) migration in Ras Al Khaima in the UAE and actually hooked a sailfish from shore!! Very short live fight of about 20 seconds but tons of inshore fish such as hamour, cuda, and some small snapper type species.
the straight between Al Khobar and Bahrain is (was) also great but much of the Gulf is being destroyed by the litter and construction.
I will be over in Riyadh at the end of the month and may look you all up.
BTW, the Aramco fields are desolate so bring books!!
