Default Reel loose in reel seat, suggestions?

I have a TLD 25 matched to a 30-50 stand-up and can't get the reel to set tightly in the reel seat. Have others encountered this problem, any suggestions?

I would loosen the screws on the reel clamps and tighten down the rings with pliers...careful not too tight. Then snug up the clamps, if its still loose you have a problem with the rod as the reel seat has become unglued/fastened from the blank. This happens on many of the cheaper built rods and on some small percentage of the others. Call the manu. and hope they cover it.

other things i have seen done, especially with larger reels is to wrap the reel seat on the rod with electrical tape. the electrical keeps the reel and bolts from scratching the metal reel seat on the rod. it also raises the reel which should make it fit more snugly in the seat.

If I read your problem correctly, the reel seat is solid on the blank but it's slightly oversize for the reel you're using... If that's the case you can build up the ends of the reel foot on your reel by either a few layers of tape (electrician's tape is what I've used) or you can wrap a few turns of small diameter monel wire around each end of the reel foot for the same effect... If that reel has the option to mount a reel clamp I would use it. Once a reel clamp is down tight, the locking rings on a reel seat aren't as important. I've been building my own rods now for many years. One of the first things I do is check the proposed reel seat against whatever reel I plan on using. On more than a few occasions, I've had to re-consider what seat to use when the reel was too large or small for a given reel seat.

Your last option is simply to go to a larger reel that's more in line with what that rod was designed to carry..
Good Luck.

Consider using a strap wrench but be careful not to over-tighten non-metal reel seats.
