I use 80 lb power pro Uni to Uni knot to 100 lb mono for my egg weight then 60 lb floro carbin with a uni to uni knot then to a hook tied on how ever you like.

spinning rig: 65lb PP, 6-8 oz egg, 150lb black swivel, 80lb fluro 6', 8/0 owner circle hook

precision auto reel (deep rig) : 200 lb braid, 200lb 1.6mm swivel sleeves, 8' 150 lb fluro, 10/0-12/0 owner circle hook.

I fish one hook if looking for grouper, up to 6 hooks on 4" dops if looking for tile

As far as knots to use when tying smaller diameter braid to larger diameter mono use an albright with a lock or a slim beauty (my preference at this time).
