Random Quote: If it smells like fish, its a good dish. If it smells like cologne leave it alone.
It is a shame to see a fish like that dried out, and I would be more impressed if the angler had gone solo on the catch instead of passing the rod off.
That being said, I would rather run into that shark while on land rather than when swimming....bulls are very aggressive and most attacks are attributed to them.
Trollin Heel....chill out. The man is entitled to his opinion.
Cripes, if I had a nickel for every judgmental jealousy-disguised-as-sportsmanship "that guy's an @$$hole for catching that many/that big/that type of fish" post I see on this board, I'd be a billionaire.
If you don't want to hear about fish being killed boys, WTF ARE YOU DOING READING A FISHING DISCUSSION BOARD???
Imagine hunters going around shooting birds out of the sky, deer and all manner of mammals. Hoist them up on hooks, take a picture. Say, looky here and see what I done killed! Then leave it to rot. Would you call that good stewardship and sportsmanlike behavior. Fishermen shouldn't be held to a different standard. A waste is a waste. Sure, catch a big bull if you can, my congrats, but release it to fight another day or make more bulls in the future. If you are going to make use of a bull like this (although I can't think of one) then keep it. To waste any beauty of a fish like that, drag it up on the dock and then toss it in the garbage is just plain wasteful and sets a really bad example of fishermen looking like idiotic, mindless fools. I think most fishermen are conservation minded. It's the few that can make all fishermen look stoopid!
My flow isn't particularly heavy and there's no cramping this month, DoubleClutch, so I will pass on the Midol.
I think the reason many have heartburn over this is that it is a waste....this shark is good only for swimming, eating, and making baby sharks while alive and bragging rights dead. I am sure it has ended up in a dumpster or towed out to sea, once the pictures were taken and the story told. Personally, I don't have a problem with killing a fish for a valid reason.....meat for the table, a record, or even tournament money. But IMO, this is a waste.....the only valid argument for killing this fish is to remove a possible threat from local waters, and in that case it would only really hold water if there had been an attack.
If it is as big as they think it is, then it should be a pending world record. I personally think the shark is around 450-500lbs. My Father caught one that weighed 411 lbs that looked nearly identical in size. Although cameras have a way of playing tricks on our eyes.

Wow, another excellent example of "if you dont share my opinion, you are a dingbat" As if the original poster is implying, or thinking, he wishes he had killed the Bullshark. Perhaps its a simple situation of folks having whats called a DIFFERENT OPINION. I, for one, dissagree with the killing of any fish for the sake of killing it. I think that opinion is shared by many on this board, I would hazard, by MOST. And the Bullshark is stupid eh?

One 'stupid' bull shark commented on by one equally stupid and ignorant poster, doubleClutch. You're the kind of guy that would have been more then happy to keep every tarpon you caught so you could stick it on your wall and pump out your chest....Killing anything simply to kill it is wrong. And it is that kind of thinking that was responsible for depletion of a lot of the game-fish stocks, until catch-n-release became popular. You remind me of the guys who fish on the piers or sea-walls, when they catch something they are not going to eat, they simply throw it off to the side to die....total waste.
I dont see a big problem with it. If I lived in the area and swam in the water occasionally I would buy the guy a steak dinner. I understand both sides but Bull Sharks are one of the few very adaptive and most resilient of all the shark species. It thrives were most others cant..

funny stuff over a dead and extremly dangerous shark
I would have done the same thing took pictures, saved a few steaks for the grill cut out the jaws for a mount to go with the pictures and chunked the rest back where he came from. Then a few nights later see if any of his kind was around feasting on the remains.
It's an apex predator and a beautiful thing in my humble opinion. I don't rate plague carrying rodents and malaria bearing insects amongst other lower ranking food chain specimens with the same regard. I'm not against killing fish or game for the table; have done it aplenty and will continue to do so. If you want to harvest something use it wisely, otherwise, let it go free. It's the sporting thing to do.
