Morning Paper says the finally closed on the Leeds AL (Birmingham) store......!50,000 square foot store.....250-300 room hotel.......and a 35 acre park. Yeeeeehaaaaa!!!!!!!!!
I fish as much saltwater as fresh and unfortunately in Birmingham there is almost no saltwater gear in any of the stores. The local West Marine has ZERO Saltwater gear;Dick's has ZERO; Academy has a few Penn's nothing bigger than SSg550, some huge 29.99 Diawa's,Zebco SW50's and I did see a 320 GTI in one;wally world Zippo.
The only place that even has the least bit is Mark's Outdoors(local). I like Mark's and they provide great service but are very very high dollar. Mark's also happens to be the #1 Costa Del Mar dealer in the world.
And it's a big market(150,000 square feet) store like ours will be....The one in Lawrenceville GA(NE Atlanta) is pretty good for saltwater I hope it's like that one.
Construction is beginning on the one here in Spanish Fort.....I am looking forward to its opening...The store in Destin has a hugh saltwater selection.

1) What are some good tackle shops in your area(my fishing budddy lives in Fairhope so I usually end up going to J&M or Topgun in OB between runs to the Florabama)?
2)Do you now or have you ever owned a "Moose Lure"?
I don't know.......you could call their 1-800# and maybe they could tell you.
I only know alot about the stores in Alabama because so much has been written about it in the newspaper. BPS has 15 new stores on the drawing board and 3 are going to be built in Alabama(Prattville/Montgomery...Leeds/Birmingham...Spanish Fort/Mobile).
I don't know if I have this exactly right, but they were orginally going to build a "small footprint store" in Leeds. After they saw the Bassmasters weigh-in in the Birmingham Coliseum they got all excited and were going to build the second biggest one ever. Now it is a standard large store but they are building another large/medium store 90 miles away in Prattville. Leeds is a nice middle class suburb of Birmingham but because of rapid developement they are extremely "cash poor". Ultimately they had to get 3 government entities to donate cash, manpower and equipment to get the infrastructure fixed so they could build.
The develpoment deals on these are pretty good...... the one in Leeds will be at the entrance to the Barber's Museum and Racetrack it will be 150,000 square feet with a 250-300 person hotel, retail and a 35 acre "city park" (rumors of one hell of a fishing pond)......The one in Spanish Fort will be 140,000 square feet part of a 200 acre development with an additional 500,000 sqaure feet of retail, hotel etc........and the one in Prattville will be 120,000 square feet part of a 150 acre developement they are putting together there.
Shopped at the one in Duluth, GA before they moved to Suwanee (Discover Mills), the one in Pooler, GA and World Wide in the Keys, all have good supply of saltwater tackle. But, I still don't like them. My fav is still Cabelas, which is opening a store in Adairsville, GA (north of Atlanta).
