Default Cobia from Broad River Beaufort, SC

Had a great time this weekend in Beaufort, SC. Caught my first Cobia. Mine was 25lbs and my girlfriend's dad's was 30. (I'm on the left in the funny hat)

There was a fishing tournament going on but we didn't register in time. The winning cobia was only 15lbs 33inches.

Cobia is on the grill as I'm typing this so I better run. Hope yall enjoy the pictures!

BTW: Both cobia were caught on frozen squid in 33 ft water in the channel about 300 yards away fromthe Broad River Bridge.

This guy caught that cobia on a fly. Took him over 2 1/2 hrs to bring it in the boat.

We were out there this weekend Steve. I missed a big one (saw him come up across the spread and hit it), but couldn't set the hook Then we saw two of them cruising together, but couldn't get to them...so we ended up getting skunked

That last picture is Capt. John Irwin who fishes out of The Charleston Angler in Charleston. I believe that fish weighed in at over 50 lbs and should be a new state record on the fly. If you don't mind, I would like to pass that picture along to John.

What day were you out there? I was out Saturday and Sunday. Caught the two cobia on sat, and nothing other than a buzz on sun. With the exception of that awesome cobia picture

Feel free to pass that one on along with this one.
This is the only other one I got.

Nice cobia! Hate it when you catch the winning fish and didn't fish the tournament. Only a fisherman's luck
