I'm eight days away from making my 5th annual Keys fishing trip down to the Bahia Honda State Park (just south of Marathon). I'll be there for five days and I'm humbly asking my THT brothers(and sisters) for some help.
I have the Bahia Honda bridge thing figured out for MONSTER TARPON, snapper, grunts, hogfish and most anything else that swims. We've also figured out how to find dolphin under floating crap near the edge of the Gulf Stream on calm weather days. My question is about the area in between. There seem to be a lot of areas that are closed to fishing and I'm not really sure where to start as far as reef fishing is concerned (areas to stay away from, etc.) All of my previous attempts to gather info from tackle shops and locals have received very vague answers. Any information that you want to share is extremely appreciated. If you have reservations about giving away too much info on a public forum, please contact me via PM or E-mail. If it helps any, we only keep what we can eat each night and never bring home a cooler full of fish at the end of the trip.
Thanks in advance for all the help.
