I'll second the gulp shrimp under a popping/rattling cork. Try the "nuclear chicken" color, trout seem to come from miles away for a chance at that!

Whichever one they are biting at the time. They can be picky.

There is a small lure company in Virginia called Specialized Baits. I had great success with a 1/4 oz Little Jimmy in olive/white color. Not too many know about this lure, but it is effective.

I can say after 32 yrs fishing with my wife the ONLY lure she has used is a red/white 7M-11. And i'll never admit it but she has outfished me a many a time. I loaded powerpro on her rod 3 yrs ago and have only changed the florocarbin leader 3 times and 4 new luers and thats because the hooks were bent.

Nothing comes close to a speculizer (which for those that don't know is a DOA shrimp under a cajun rattling cork). It also has an added 1/4 egg sinker on the bottom of the cork. This helps it cast better and rattle better.

Sorry, but I just wouldn't be able to live with myself if i told you my favorite color.

I am also a big fan of the gulp products as well as the Hybrids.

But if it works for you stick with it!

Shad rig in red/white is one of the old school baits as also a bingo.Don't forget the sparklebeatle. To this day I still put alot of fish in the boat with them.Fishing Venice in the fall when the flounder run in.Use a shadrig tiped with cut bait fished on the bottom like one is bass fishing a worm.Killer!Oh,when was the last time someone ask you how many "boxes" of trout you cought that day. That is how long I had been fishing trout!

Conditions being the first hurdle, if the trout are hitting and splashing on top, nothing beats a blue and chrome chug bug. Second would be a DOA Terror eyez rootbeer with gold specs or a 1\4 oz. Cotee Jig red head with red and white body. On these 3 lures I've caught hundreds of trout from 1 -10 lbs. But like anything else you like what you like.

I'm not that old but thats how we used to measure it back when I was fishing with Dad. I still break out the shad rigs when I'm in the schoolies.

As far as I'm concerned, 98% of the time I'm trout fishing, I have a charteuse H&H cochahoe tail on a 1/4 oz unpainted jig head. This lure has led to the death of thousands of the spotted ones on my boat. I only have one tray of trout tackle and its usually enough. A few heads, tails, and corks and I'm ready to roll.
