Re: Penn Sucks I live darned close to Penn facilities in PA and was a pretty loyal customer, but the service department has just gone to He11. I've spoken with the management a couple of times and they are considerate and accomodationg, BUt, you cannot run a business onan exception basis for squeaky wheel customers. They have repeatedly screwed up parts orders and service work on reels dropped off or sent to them
I am not a brand bigot but I know when I broke a handle on a TLD 50II and called Shimano, the professional answering the phone asked how many of these reels I had, then sent me 4 handles at no charge for 4 reels. I received in 3 working days from California. Alternatively, I called Penn for a replacement handle on a 2 year old 975 which had just worn out and wobbled. The illiterate rep that took my call after I got voice-mail 3 times treated me like a nusiance, then charged $14 plus shipping. I received a generic silver colored handle from a 535 while the original was gold to match the reel finish. Delivery took 5 weeks to go 40 miles.
I understand they are in business to turn a profit as it should be, however, IMO they need to start with treating customers with respect. Maybe the new ownership gets it because they are going to get about one more try from me. |
