Default HydroGlow Lights - Do they work for tunas and snapper?

Last night at a local sportsman show I was looking at a 4' submersible green light made by HydroGlow.

It appears that the sword fishing crowd use these quite a bit and I think they sell for ~$200-$210 each, with carrying case.

I was wondering, however, how these would work for nighttime tuna chunking or fishing over reefs/wrecks at night for snapper?

Any comments?

We use them on overniters for tuna all the time. They really bring in the bait, which brings in the fish.

If you do not have underwater lights built into the hull of your boat, the hydroglows are really terrific. Last year at the canyon we had one of the other boats radio us to ask us how many we had set out because of the "footprint" they saw unser our boat from their tower.... we only had one...

I purchased one last year, on our first use of the HG ever we caught 2 swords and a 8 tuna at the Dip south of Montauk. The second time using the HG light we got 15 yellows and lost many more at the Fishtails.

The HG light pulled in all kinds of krill and small bait after 10 minutes in the water, at 20 minutes we had large and small squid. 1 hour later we had tuna shooting thru the lit water chasing the squid.
After witnessing the life the light brought to the boat my buddy bought one for his boat, seeing is believing.

After 1 year of usage the light did spring a leak and flooded the inside tube. I sent it back and received a free replacement in about 1 week.

Thanks for the advice - anyone else have any experiences to share with the HydroGlow? I'm thinking of getting one just for the wow factor of my 11 year old son who is a budding marine scientist.

Seems like it would be a great live bait and flying fish attractor.

We use one in the Canyons off NJ all the time. They work great for the tuna bite. Brings bait to the boat great.

I have used mine in the NE canyons with similiar results to thos eposted above. I have also used it on the reefs in the Keys. It brings all kinds of fish off the bottom.

Highly recommended, and if they break they get replaced no questions asked
