Go here: http://www.mexfish.com/ for the best information on fishing Mexico. Click on Cabo in the upper right, then read. After you are finish reading, scroll down and click on page 1, and then scroll down again to read the fishing reports for mid-July last year and you can see what they catch out of Cabo in July.

Yup, Mexfish and it's archives are a great resource. Who are you fishing with? Mid July could be striped marlin (really ANY time in Cabo could be stripers), maybe some blues showing up. A little early for tuna, but it all depends on the water. Dorado for sure. I usually fish with Pisces sportfishing, you can go to thier website and they have annual catchs listed as well.

I fished there in Dec 2000. Caught plenty of striped marlin and yellow fin tuna to 50 pounds. It was pretty hot in dec so I can imagine July will be cooking

I haven't heard of that boat, but that doesn't mean much; LOTS of good boats in Cabo. July WILL be hot! I was there 1st week of August in 2005, bring plenty of sunscreen and hope the boat has some shade Have a blast, eh.

In a word (or two) . . . high prices and humidity!

July-September is effectively the chubasco (i.e., hurricane) season, so it'll be hot and plenty sticky. Although late summercan be the best all-aroundfishing in terms of average fish size, it can alsobe downright unbearable in terms of atmosphere. I've been offshore there (on the East Cape and Pacific sides) in Aug/Septemberwhen the sky was so dark and foreboding, the sea so whipped-up, itwas downright armageddon-ish. But then, life is short! So enjoy!

Jus kidding! You'll have a ball!

Correct for Cabo, but if you want to avoid the glitz, high prices and party atmosphere of Cabo, go 30 miles up the backside to the beautiful, friendly little town of San Jose del Cabo where Panga fishing goes for $200 - 250/day depending on the panga, and nice hotels run $70 - 100/nite. Lots of the Cabo boats fish the Gordo Banks which are just offshore San Jose del Cabo.

Hello everybody, my name is Chris, I rarely post here because I live and fish on the west coast. I have been fishing Cabo for over 35 years and have seen all the changes, don't bring your family, the town has gone wild. Lets just talk about the fishing which is still great. The Mexican captains are all pretty much good, it's the boats were you have be selective. Cabo fishing is so much better when you have live bait, and a lot of these boats don't have bait capacity for more than about 10. Plus these guys use the out of bait, time to go back BS. So find out for sure what kind of bait system the boat you charter has. Oh, bait is expensive but buy as much as you can. The worst thing about the charter boats in Cabo are the deck hands. Pay attention here or you will not be happy. Make it perfectly clear you are handling the rods, do this on the dock because the crew won't speak English after that. If you don't make this clear you won't get a rod in your hands until the fish is half way in, and they will not let you bait a fish. The way I handle it is I give the deck hand $10 at the dock and tell him I want to do everything and if he stays out of my way he gets another $10 when we get in.

As far what type of fish to expect in July, Marlin ( Blue and Stripe), Dorado,Yellowfin, Skipjack, Roosterfish,Amberjack. Do some research a few days before you go and have a game plan, if you leave it up to the captain he will pick the easiest, shortest place to fish. If you know they are catching big tuna at Gordo then you need to tell the captain at the dock you want to fish the Gordo Banks. If he says no, find another boat. The Gordo is a longer run for the Cabo boats so they don't like to make it if they don't have to. I personally like to fish Gordo banks because I know there are big Yellowfin there I have caught them. Good luck Chris

Just came back from a West Coast Cruise. Cabo was the first stop. We had a 1/2 day charter - 4 hours. We landed 2 striped marlin (150+) and saw dozens more. They would not hit the trolled baits but once a live bait was in the water look out! Never expected that type of action in such a short timeframe. The sea life was unbelievable.

Fished a second day in Matizlan a full day charter. Saw many Marlin but the boat did not have live bait. Lost one fish and that was it for the entire day. Make sure they have live bait!!

Juanita was a Twin Dolphins Hotel boat at one time. July is just plain hot. Make sure they bring double the amount of bottled water on board. And, make sure the bottle seals haven't been tampered with! Leave the cervasa for a beach bar.
