Default Tuna Do they use sight, smell or Both??

Read an article online. Wondering how many of you use any scent attractive's on your stingers?

I was under the opinion that Tuna use eye sight more than smell to locate their food source. How ever this article says that a contrasting stinger with the correct scent is a deadly combo.

Just wondering your experiences.

My info, and I have been wrong once or twice [ ] is that tuna first pick up bait fish by sound (vibrations picked up along their lateral line) and smell (more specifically aste I believe as the water passes through their mouth), depending on the circumstances

Vision, while very apparently very good with tuna, seems to help them when they are zooming in at the end Interesting thread, I will be following to hear what the EXPERTS on THT have to say . . .

Seems to me that it depends if they are migrating or not. When they are migrating it's nearly impossible to get them on the chunk and trolling is king, therefore I would hypothesize that they depend more on sight. When they settle into an area for longer periods of time, they are far more susceptible to being caught on the chunk and usually, but not always they will be tough to take on the troll. So when they are settled into an area I would hypothesize that they depend more on smell. Overall I think that they probably use sight more than smell, but theres no question that they do follow both at various times. Just my thoughts...
