Default 7-Striped Jetty Snapper in the shallow Salt Marsh

I't been so dang cool here in Dixie (Jacksonville, Florida), I feel like Yukon Cornelius! -And have been told I look like him too!

32 degrees in the morning with a 20 knot wind.....makes it how cold?????

Of course, I don't believe in Global Warming, litterally. But rather if that's a fact, I do believe in "climate change".
IE: Making warmer places colder.

So I had to go get a fishing fix no matter how cold it was, and since there's not even any Yankee's coming south to fish, I went solo, as I usually do alot of in weather like this.

But I kept with the season (sheepshead usually bite in cold water) and instead of getting this Sheepshead.....aka: "7 Striped Jetty Snapper", at the inlets jetty rocks. I got this one up in a shallow creek, off an oyster bed on a float and live (cold but alive) shrimp.

7 pounder on the Boga.

And yes, you will not believe how shallow a 26' Aluminum boat will go with a 225 Honda on the back!!
It ain't no surf board with a kicker motor, like some of those Flats boats. But then again.....I have ball room dancing space.

This is for ya'll who don't know what a "7 striped Jetty Snapper" is, and for the others who's boats are in storage.

Nice jetty snapper there Dave.

Hey when its that cold do you stick your fish to the inside hull [ like licking a flag pole ] like I do it saves trips to the fish cooler.

Naw Welder.....I still bring ICE in a cooler, for some reason.

I posted this pic here, and forgot that this board is really only a trollers, pelagic species forum. Where ya gotta catch your fish on an Avet reel.

Either way, I was just out in my backyard (burning no fuel...maybe a gallon or so) fishing for a limit of Flash Frozen Speckled Trout, really.
I got them, but they were all small 15-19" on the next to last day before a 28 day Feb closure for harvest.

nice catch. I really like your boat man. I just sold my old aluminum and it was 17ft cc, it also floated really shallow.

It's great for parking on top of Oysterbeds, where the Sheeps hang out.

Here in South La. the guides call them bay snapper. The paying clients dont want to catch sheep head but they will pay big bucks to catch some bay snapper LOL.

Nice convicts.

A few friends that are hardcore sheepie addicts have been waiting for the waters to cool enough to bring those fish near shore. Glad to see they are down south of us....they must be here by now.
