Default Abu Garcia Reel(s) Return Question?!?

Hey...I had two Abu Garcia reels, models 103 Cardinal and BR5F Cardinal, that were damaged during Katrina. They were submerged under God knows what and I was not able to get back to them until maybe a month or so after they went under. When I did get back to them I cleaned them and respooled them, so on so forth. I used them several times after they were cleaned with no problems. About a month ago I noticed they had corrosion and other crud coming from several spots which appeared to be "leakage" from the inside of the reels. I tried using both of them and the 103 would barely move while the BR5F was totally locked up. I sent them back to AG and asked them to fix the reels or let me know the damage. I received a letter today saying that I should just pay them to replace the reels at a cost of $24.75 for the 103 and $30.25 for the BR5F + $7.75 for S&H. I know this is not much but I thought this was kinda f'ed up as I had numerous other reels (Penn) that I have had NO problems with. My question is this... Should I send the check and get two new reels or should I tell AG to F'off and just spend the money on beer or a downpayment on a Tiagra?

Why would you tell Abu Garcia to F'off? They're modestly priced reels that have been submerged which isn't their fault and rather than rip you off with a large repair bill they suggested that it would be less expensive to replace them. That sounds reasonable to me.

Well thats now what happened so here we are

I do not remember how much I paid for them and I am curious if these prices sound more or less than one would pay at Walmart or Academy?

They are priced to be disposable reels so look at them that way. If you want to keep using them then pay the extra money and be done with it. If not tell them to send them back to you and tinker with them until you find what is wrong. The ~$60 here doesn't even cover the cost of line for your tiagra.

BTW prices sound reasonable I guess, you can always run a quick internet search and see.
