I am headed to Panama in late March. Any ideas on a reputable guide to do some inshore/nearshore fishing?

Don't know names but if you have the time a peacock bass fishing trip in Gatun lake is a must, you can have a guided trip and they will prep and cook your fish for dirt cheap. A day very well spent.

BuzoDe45 - Peacock bass fishing sounds like a great trip to me. And its definitely what I have been considering - I just need to decide on a guide.

Hooper - sounds like a great trip - hope you enjoy the Coral Star. I am on the lower end of the budget on this trip and just have one day. Post those reports though - I'd love to see it.

Jmack, I will post. I hear you on the budget, it took a lot of saving, and a lot of overtime!

Check with Capt Tony Herndon. He fishes for peacocks in Lake Gatun, snook & tarpon in the Bayano River or other places out Panama City.
His e-mail is captaintony@panamafishingandcatching.com
Tell him I sent you.

Hi!

Here is a webpage that will guide in most of the fishing aspects in Panama. http://www.panamacruise.com.pa It is still being developed. However, it has plenty of info at this time and not just inside the Gulf area but all over Panama.

PS. Also if interested on real estate there as the market is booming, check http://www.panamahotrealestate.com

Cheers!
