Double Header Big Blue Marlin & More Giant Tunas...01/04

Out with Jack and Connor today from my sugar daddy's family...weather was a touch snotty and bait was downright gnarly to make but we managed 7 baits and guess what...1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7...baits went nighty night faster than the Devil on an Ambien...

First two baits in the water get demolished by a pair of hard charging blue marlin that left craters in the water as they sent the poor little skipies to the netherworld...ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ...and ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ....

Largo sets up on the left rigger as 300#'s of blue marlin goes koo koo while Oscar locks up on the right rigger and 500#'s of blue marlin goes gaa gaa in the opposite direction...

The deck is haywire as Connor and Jack dive for the stand up gear but just as Connor is about to start his first grinds his fish comes unbottuned...that's alright...cause Jack's fish is putting on a show for all it's 500#'s is worth...

I hammer the throttles in reverse and we are making sure Jack is babtised Cow Town style...even with the water pouring over the transom we're still loosing line as Jack's big blue cartwheels south and thankfully downswell...

After a spectacular battle with countless greyhounding jumps we score the release on Jack's fish...his first marlin...and thanks to Steve D we've captured the entire freakshow on DVD video...

We're down to one bait now and out it goes...Largo doesn't even have a chance to get it in the rigger when...ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ....a big tuna inhales the bullet tuna and we're off to the races but unfortunately we pull the hook a short while later...

Just as we're getting set up to catch more bait tunas start exploding all around the boat so we start firing off poppers and jigs into the frenzy...i hook 4 fish in a row on 4 casts with the popper and Connor and Jack are bendo in no time...

We put 3 smaller fish on the deck from 60 - 100#'s and decide to go back to making bait...

Well it takes us a good 4 hours to make 3 more baits but the wait was worth it...ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ first bait in the water goes bye bye and Connor straps in to his first real one...

After a slugfest battle 13yr old Connor bests a respectable 140#er which we also capture on video...

Next up it's Jack and after the last 3 days he's an old hand at this game and bests a fat 180#er in less than 15mins...nice job there buckshot...

So there you have it...another day in paradise firmly imbedded under the belt...oil changes and maintenance tomorrow then out again on saturday...giddy up...
