Default Boxing Day Big Tuna Blitz...12/26

Well even though the water has been green for a bit now it's had absolutely no effect on the bite that's still going strong out there in epic proportions...

Bait today was a bitch...i'll give you that...but each and every hookbait that hit the water back there was annihialited in quick order...fish from 100 - 200+ boiling all over the place and when the dust settled Steve, Capt Andy Mezirow, Manny, Tony, and i had 9 fish from 125 - 175#'s...we released all but the first and the last so perhaps by february we'll see them again as 200#'s...

Dorado are showing up as well...we hooked one today on a cabillito and right at the end of the day i pinned a good one pushing 40#'s on a bait jig but it shanghied my as i was walking it down from the bow pulpit to within gaffing range...so be it...

We could have likely caught and released over two dozen fish today if we could have caught the bait quicker to do it...obviously the bait was running scared with acres and acres of tuna out there haunting it...so their mood for biting the usual assortment of jigs and things was slightly off...when you did get one though...whoah...look out because most of the time as soon as it hit the water and got 15 feet from the boat it got hoovered...in a large and messy way...

Steve is getting very good at this game and succeeds in grinding these big tunas to the boat with little effort thanks to a whole lot of technique refined no doubt...after the countless fish he's bested down here over the last few years...it'll be intresting to see how good he is after another year down here....

I'm out again tomorrow and i'm guessing things are going to be haywire...tuna claus sure came in force again this year...
