Default PETA is everywhere!!

I put togther a fishing club here in Southeastern MA and we have a free Blog site that we use. The Blog site runs on ads as everything else on the web does. So today I look at one of the banner ads.......on our blog.
Check out www.fishinghurts.com its the craziest nonsense I have ever seen before.....
Check out the vegetarian starter kit on the same site. I am off to go and eat a steak before I go deer hunting in the AM!
Time to go and pay for our own blog site and kill the free one!

They're a bunch of idiots who should be shot. They don't even look into what they're protesting... They recently protested a church for having a nativity scene which 'abused animals'. Turns out all the animals were plastic, just the people in it who were posing were real.

I go back and forth between PHX, AZ and VB for work. I love listening to talk radio and was saddened when G-Gordon Liddy in VA and Sheriff Joe Arpaio in PHX did a spot for PETA (both conservitive in my mind) We all know how to take care of animals without their help, Thank you!!

I hear extreme activists make decent shark bait and good target practice. I know people who have actually had these wackos show up at their house at night trying to cause trouble. One of my buddies sprained a knee chasing one of those sonofabitches away from his house and through the neighborhood. Their extremest thinking places them in the terrorist category in my book.

Come on now. Let's try to save the terrorist label for the terrorists.

what makes it so bad is most of us would beat the sh.t out of someone we saw beating a dog or some other form of animal abuse. if they ever started protesting actual animal abuse and stopped attacking sportsmen I think they would have a lot more members.

PETA, like other persistent nuisances, is an outfit that needs to watched carefully...

I consider it a form of pest control.....

Peta, ELF and other enviro wackos have been on the "watch" list since the 80's. Sugar won't do anything to a gas tank - another urban legend. What does damage fuel systems is Chlorox!

Actually, they make lousy target practice.

They just huddle down and quiver. No sport in that. I'll have to try the shark bait thing though.............

I don't mind them, they have SOME good points. Esp. concerning toxin levels in the water. Here in NW Ohio, we are advised not to eat native fish in our rivers duw to chemical runoff. But the stuff about catch and release is clearly BS. As are their general statements about fishing.
I'll all for conservation and care for our environment - I think most fisherman are. PETA should go after those who damage the fishing environments, not those who enjoy fishing.
Most rational people aren't going to be influenced by their BS in the slightest bit.

Default RE: PETA is everywhere!! - shark tourney example

Having been the direct target of PETA after catching the 1200 lb tiger shark in the 05 Oak Bluffs Vineyard tourney, I can say this...they are clever, well financed and well connected to the media. When they make a big stink and get their org name out there it paves the way for them to raise money! That's what it's all about for these people; standing on a profitable pulpit preaching a low value message.

Why Doesn't PETA have any interest in confronting the long liners? Could it have to do with money? As we all know long liners are well represented by lobbyists and well financed commercial interests, thus a formidable adversary. PETA is a group of profiteering hypocrites until they make progress more the issue than profit.

Coming in from the OB shark tourney this summer was interesting. As we neared the harbor jetty someone in a 10' Avon was holding a bright flag and bobbing around in the 25kt, 4-6' slop. At first sight the reaction was that this was some sort of safety warning since the weather was rancid (TS Beryl had just come through) and so many boats were entering a narrow channel. The safety idea was quickly dismissed when we saw PETA on the flag. This guy was very aggresive and clearly looking to instigate someone into swamping his little boat. To my knowledge he was left alone. What was interesting was that he had an accomplice on the jetty filming the whole thing! What a sleeze. Their lawyers are likely fairly intelligent and certainly well paid.

Oh and by the way, after fishing that tourney for 6 years we've landed 3 sharks out of 100+. For long liners you would reverse those numbers.

ICdeadfish is right. They are very well financed and hooked into the media. Too many liberal idiot actors and bleeding hearts out there ready to "carry the message". Every Starbucks in the country is packed full of the laptop carrying, latte drinking, wanna-be writers and actors looking to cash in on some fame with one of their stupid media plots. I figure I did my part though. They will be happy to know, I marinate my veal and venison in soy milk occasionally.

Good link Beuford. After spending a little time on that site and it's links I came away with the following: We can sign a petition with would cause PETA to lose tax exempt status (mine was the 130,155 th signature), a history of the tax records are there (Comedy Central gave them $200,000 in FY 04 so clearly there is a solid media connection) and most important of all PETA has not been managed as a level headed organization; which we all knew...

There are numerous references of PETA supporting 2 organizations (ALF and ELF) which are classified as being domestic terrorists by the FBI. PETA loudly applaudes their actions and interacts with both but claims not to have any way to contact them!! BS. PETA has received stolen records from ALF and ELF and used these documents to stop medical testing on animals. This Newkirk woman (head of PETA) equates the deaths of 6 million people in the holocaust to the 6 million chickens that will be killed and consumed in the U.S. this year, she says there is no difference. Wow.

Everyone should go to the site and sign the petition to help void the tax exempt status of PETA. Let em compete on a level playing field with us. That way real charities like those helping poor kids get Christmas toys can get the money.

My one and only beef with PETA dickheads is that they are self serving hypocrites!
Oh DON'T kill that tree, but they'll live in a wood built home, have wooden furniture!
Oh DON'T kill that animal, but they are not all vegetarian and they consume dairy products!
Oh DON'T pollute the air, yet they drive cars/ trucks!
Oh DON'T pollute the water, yet they flush their toilets!
Oh DON'T walk on that ground, you'll kill the plants, yet they'll eat every vegetable put in front of them!
Oh DON'T do that, because I wouldn't attitude.........!
And the one that REALLY kicks me in the hole is where PETA will stand up and shout DON”T.....when they live 3,000 miles away!

F#@K THEM I SAY!!!!!!!!!!

IMO a very good analogy of a PETA individual is a Killer Bee.......all it takes is one to offset the balance of a hive, hive after hive after hive.

Got this from the link that beuford posted.

PETA is not an animal welfare organization.
PETA spends less than one percent of its multi-million dollar budget actually helping animals. The group euthanized (killed) more than 1,900 animals in 2003 alone -- that's over 85 percent of the animals it received. In fact, from July 1998 through the end of 2003, PETA killed over 10,000 dogs, cats, and other "companion animals" at its Norfolk, Virginia headquarters. That's more than five animals every day. On its 2002 federal income-tax return, PETA claimed a $9,370 expense for a giant walk-in freezer, the kind most people use as a meat locker or for ice-cream storage. But animal-rights activists don't eat meat or dairy foods. So far, the group hasn't confirmed the obvious -- that it's using the appliance to store the bodies of its victims.

Whats that all about?

If you knew how little was actually spent by the 501-3C non-profits, you'd krap yer pants. The largest landowner besides Ted Turner is The Nature Conservancy. I'd rather give my money to Ted for a tasty bison burger than to ever donate land to TNC.
