Jose- thanks for the reply- Staying at the Old San Juan- I would like marlin to be primary- I think it may be slow for marlin in January- you tell me... I catch mahi at home all summer long so thats out- Maybe some bottom fishing or tuna-- Thanks for all the info you can give.
Paul, If you're gonna be staying in San Juan, your best bet is definitely Capt. Omar Orraca. Cap. Omar runs charters to fish everything from tarpon to sharks and even has a TV show. You can check him out at www.fishingpuertorico.com
You can also reach him at 1-787-396-8346(cell) or 1-787-727-5427
I don't think you'll have a problem looking for marlin.
Buena Suerte (Best of luck)!
Jose

I can highly recommend Capt Omar. I've fished with him many times. I think in January you may be better off going for the tarpon in the backcountry. It should be red-hot.
Birdman, I actually keep my boat at the Ponce Yacht & Fishing Club. Thee are lots of places to go down there.I highly reccomend El Rincon Argentino (The Argentinian Corner) right on Isabel Street in the center of Ponce. Awesome Argentinian food! Also, Tequila's Mexican Grill & Bar at Santa Isabel. For great sea food I always go to El Ancla Restaurant, right at Ponce's beach. Drop me a line whenever you're down here. My e-mail is torallimeres@yahoo.com
Take care!

Paul, you also may want to check out Mike Benitez Marine Services, Inc. (787) 723-2292; (787) 724-6265
Fax: (787) 725-4344. right in the Club Nautico de San Juan. http://www.nauticodesanjuan.com/charters.htm, I have chartered with them several times whenever I go home on vacation, will love to do it more often. As of yet have not left empty handed, last trip was in July 06 landed 2 Blue Marlins. The Sea Born is an awsome boat. Best of luck.
Anyone have any clue as to prices of 1/2 day fishing charters in Puerto Rico? The cheaper the better, Im on a budget. Going in Feb. Staying in Isla Verde (north side of the island). Thanks- Shell
I'm not sure of his rates, but you might wanna check out capt. Miguel Sanabria (boat's name - Grand Illusion). I'm pretty sure his 1/2 day rates are reasonable. I'll look for his number and post it here a bit later

I can second Capt. Omar Orraca...we had a good time with him. Didn't do offshore, opted instead for the big tarpon.* here's the Capt.*and my wife's fish:
