Default tuna east of chatham

well the weather has kind of sucked the last few weeks, but it is late fall and what can you expect. finally the wind cooperated with our schedules for the fist time in a couple weeks today. the day started with scraping the ice off of the boat's windshield but it was well worth it...the sun came out strong and kept us plenty warm and there was barely any wind whatsoever. full moon lit our way out. action was slow and steady as we picked up 7 fish between 42" and a plump guy just under 46". we were hoping to get into something with a little size as there are reports of some bigger fish being around, but it wasn't in the cards. overall i feel like we stole a day today and it will hopefully make the winter feel a little shorter. i have some pics here, but the other guys took the majority so i'll update w/more & let Rich join in w/his pictures. awesome day on the water.

as far as lures, all fish were taken on large squid bars. you might not need a harness to reel in a 50lb fish but the time you don't put the gear on is the time you hook into something you do need it for.

here are some more pics...

Anyway a great day for Nov he forgot to mention we did see/find some big fish on the way in but to no avail (big as in large mediums to small volkswagons ) also saw some bass getting the feed bag on as well
Did see some guys jigging cod out there which was encouraging

Mike, i know you're just busting balls but rich is pretty sensitive about his age so i figured i'd stick up for him.

and Rich, i wasn't going to mention he was a virgin because i think it's pretty obvious by his technique in the pic j/k dave

I can't help it I get tired leadering/tailing/tagging and releasing everyone's fish By the time it's my turn I'm tired
In all seriousness lots of fun and a fair amount of work happens on a day that starts at 100 am and ends after 800 pm sometimes way after 800

We saw all the stuff you guys saw on the way in... The Bass Blitz was tempting, but we had no Bass Gear on the boat.

I though the last pic had a tag stick. Who are you tagging for?

For school bft yes for gbft it's a live bait or dead herring north of the vinyard south of the vinyard it would be butters and macks or scallop parts and bycatch (floaters) from the dragger fleet most of which is whiting I use other stuff as well but can't say
Other tunas are a mix daytime troll night time chunk/liveline

I am pretty sure the point of using a tag stick is to tag the fish in the water so it has a chance of survival. Do you really think that those fish have much of a shot after being handed around the boat and half their slime coats rubbed off?
