Bravajo I chartered out of the Sailfish Marina last May with Steve Rhea of the Black Duck ( I think) . I was by myself and the run out of the inlet is short, 15 minutes maybe. we slow trolled live goggle-eye and I caught four king mackeral from 15 to 32lbs and a sailfish about 4 1/2 feet. I was back in the hotel for lunch. this was a half day trip. his boat will only accomadate 3 fisherman so if you have a bigger group this may not be the best guy. call the captain before hand so you can get some info and have realistic expectations. good luck Mark

if you want to try light tackle call capt. greg bogdan on the permitted, also at sailfish marina. If you want also call capt. John Peel at fishingpalmbeach.com. Hes a close friend and one of the best fishermen I know.

I also had a great halfday of fishing with steve on the Black Duck, that boat raises fish, he is a great captain. On the half day I caught 4 kings to 20 pounds , 2 Cuda's one was a 40 Pounder, a small sail and lost a big snapper. We got back to Sailfish marina and hade more fish than the 2 other boats that went out combined. Make sure you dont cheap out on the bait. Get plenty of goggle eyes

The best charter for the money would be to contact Capt. Rob Mazzei, Sail King Fishing Charters www.sailking.com and www.reelfine.com
I've been out with him many times and always got fish. He let's you do your own thing, he doesn't just just hand you the rods when the fish in on.
Sailfish Marina has become a "tourist trap", you can almost do 2 charters with Capt. Rob for the price those guys charge for 1 charter. Typically, you're rarely go further than 4-6 miles out.

So true.
People cringe when they hear the price of live bait. But it makes a HUGE difference in the type of day you will have.
Many days the trollers will come home empty-handed where as the live-baiters will have an INCREDIBLE day.
This is true, but I have done just as good if not better with herring and sardines on some days. Goggle eyes are a great bait but not always necessary if the herring and sardines are arouns.
Re: FIshing in West Palm Beach / Palm Beach Shores
Try Greg Bogdon at Sailfish Marina. He is a moody guy, but he really knows his stuff. He is the man for catching permit and knows nite fishing real good. Good Luck
Re: FIshing in West Palm Beach / Palm Beach Shores
If you want a smaller head boat, the Black Dog and the Countryside out of Jupiter always find fish. They will put you on lots of snapper and maybe give you a shot at a grouper or two. You can set a flatline for kings and sails but those won't be as common. Upside is it is far less expensive if all you want to do is go out on the water and have fun.
