Default choas stand-up vs. penn stand-up vs. ?

Establishing my first set of offshore rigs. I am mounting the rods to penn international 50w's. What do you think? Any good or bad experiences you are willing to share about either or both?

I have four Chaos ST30-50's matched up to my Penn Intl' 30's. First year of use. Caught yellowfin tuna up to 70LBs, and a Blue Marlin estimated to be 300+LBs. Absolutely love them. Would recommend the 50-100's for the 50W. Call Chaos or talk to their Rep at the next boat show. They are very helpful.

well i toss my .02 in i
stumbled in to Chaos's new store in pompano yesterday
after 4 hrs of going over what i wanted or thought i wanted i ended up with 15 new rods and reels
these guys were getting ready for the boat show but yet took a great amount of time with me and my Gf to give us the service that a person looks for these day
the store was awsome the owner took the time to take me down to the other shop that they will be making all the new rods and showing me the gear and even how its done

so yeah i spent more than bASSpro but now my whole spread has a lifetime no questions asked warranty
will look insane boat name added the custom colors ect ect ect.

1st class customer service

I used to like Chaos until my 18 month old rod broke while stripping line to tie on a swivel. It was a 12-25lb plugging rod and I had a reel in freespool with the clicker on. When I pulled the line (with VERY LITTLE force) through the tip top it broke the blank cleanly losing about 6" of the rod.

I wrote to Chaos and was dissappointed that, as they said "this happens all of the time" and "you shouldn't pull line through the guides you should pull it off the reel".

The blank was clearly faulty. I build my own rods and have been fishing since I was 5 years old and never saw a blank snap like this one. Chaos's response was "the warranty is only for 1 year" and they didn't cover it.

I showed the blank to some fellow rodbuilders and all agree that it should not have broken like that.

Needless to say I am not thrilled about Chaos's product support.

On your ??, why not add St Croix and Star rods to the mix. I have a number of both rods and am very happy with them.

We have 6 50-100 stand up rods on short bent butts matched with Penn 50 TW. Very happy with the setup.

Seeker and Calstar are the only rods I'll build on for offshore.
