Default Middle Ground trip of October 21

We had a wonderful day at Florida Middle Grounds.
Water temperature was 76. Winds were calm. Air temperature was a bit too warm for this time of the year, but being busy catching, did not left any time to complain. We stopped at four spots. Released tens of small fish. Catching the kings was the matter of having a bait sitting on the top of the water on a so called flat line.
We had to head back home for lack of ice and bait. Oh well.
Here are the pictures:

Florida Middle Grounds starts at around 75 mile northwest of St. Petersburg, and stretches to about 40 miles northwest. We usually start fishing at 80 miles offshore to around 110 miles. The floor is not that deep, but there are many canyons and picks. The entire area is productive, and a real treat to see the bottom on the FF, knowing that we are gliding on the top of a submerged mountain.

I have dove all over the Caribbean and still enjoy the Middle Grounds the best. Great place to spear LARGE fish and see an awesome variety of Marine Life. It is further North then any other Coral Reef and if you like big sharks, try a Middle Grounds night dive. We usually fish the Middle Grounds and its "brother", The Elbow 15 to 20 times a year and always catch a great variety of fish. If you really enjoy diving, you have to check out the Middle Grounds.

You don't really need your own numbers (although that is not a bad thing) as there are gazillions of spots and relatively few boats out there. Hewes, your Contender would be fine, but I wouldn't take the 16 out there...

I have taken my 25 GW out to the MG and it was terrific. Drop your lines and "fish on" echoes within a couple of minutes. I hope to do several trips this winter.

cbeauty, was that a 32 Proline you went out in? It has twins, right? I only see one engine.
