I ran from work for a day of fishing in OBX and a couple of games of golf . . . THANK YOU Paul Buske for a place to stay and the great food
The introduction was provided by Chris in his post > > > >

His post is better written than mine . . . but here are a few pics . . . we ran straight due east about 30 or so miles out from the Oregon Inlet bridge and spent most of the day fishing in 300 to 850 feet of water and trolling between 6 and 8 miles per hour
Photo #1
Mike G got the first fish . . . we had not yet finished setting up the pattern . . . Chris has a nice 23 ft centre console with a real sweet 225 Susuki . . . that boat runs so well and fast . . . the pattern included five rods with Shimano 50s and two daisy chains and spreaders run off of the corners
We had 3 footers for a good part of the way out but it flattened out once we got out . . . Mike put a serious hurt on that fish
Photo #2
Chris was ready with gaff in hand . . . we all agreed that the gaff was a little too short so Chris is going to use my 6 ft gaff next trip nto see if that is more to his liking
Our buddy Trig ran the boat and did us proud . . . they kept me out of the way at the start so I took the pictures
Photo #3
Here is the first fish of the day deciding that it is time to make another run . . . this is where we saw that the gaff was too short when the fish did not want to come closer to the boat . . . maybe a little to green
Photo #4
Here Mike G has the tuna at his feet and he is inspecting the red and white cedar plug for signs of wear, the plug had a small crack
Chris now has blood on his new-to-him centre console on its maiden off-shore trip . . . that is one very solid boat
Photo #5
After the first fish we rig the lines and place a couple of blue and white sea witches into the mix . . . that was the best lure decision we made that day . . . they were rigged with medium sized ballyhoo
Somewhere between photo #5 and photo #6 I caught and landed a nice tuna in 40 lb range . . . the guys forgot to take pictures
Tuna caught on blue and white sea witch with ballyhoo
Score is now two hookups and two tuna landed
Photo #6
trig get his turn at a nice tuna . . . I vaguely remember something about "this ain't no mullet"
Photo #7
Mike G was always upbeat cheering on Trig as Trig did a fine job of fighting the fish
Mike found the gaff to be the right length to lean on and watch the action
Score is now four hookups and four tuna landed
Photo #8
Mike decides a rest is in order . . . a great day to be on the water
Photo #9
Chris grabs a rod on the first of a double header
Photo #10
Mike G fights the fifth and largest fish
Photo #11
While Trig ran the boat, I cleared lines, helped Chris and Mike where I could, and did the gaffing.
This photo is of Mike's Tuna, I guess in the high fifties . . . a single gaff shot to the head, and no meat wasted . . . PIC IS OF YOUR'S TRULY
Last four fish caught on blue and white sea witches with medium ballyhoo
Five for five on a smaller boat is a FANTASTIC day . . . and Chris burnt about 45 gallons total for a truly great day on the water
Photo #12
Here is what is keeping me home this summer . . . renovations are progressing well and should be finished in about 4 weeks and I will be down in mid-Novermber for the carolina's cast and Blast and then four weeks of boat repairs and fishing in the OBX
The house is to the left and my ofices are to the right. On top of the offices are shingles to reroof, which is now 80% done
THANK YOU CHRIS FOR A GREAT DAY ON THE WATER
