Default 4.2L Yamah F250

What was the first year that motor came out?

Got a guy with a 2010 and he's not sure if he has the 3.3 or the 4.2

Serial number of the 4.2 has xca in it...

It should start with F or LF 250XCA.....

I believe they came out in 2010.

The Offshore model was announced in November 2009.

Another other easy way to tell between them is the location of the oil filter(And decals too) Oil filter is on the side of the engine in a very obvious spot that is easily seen. The 3.3's its located on the front of the engine and has a black cover over it.

Or the model number as mentioned

With all due respects to my dog Boscoe, it is the dog butt ugly cowl that causes me to flinch when I look at the 4.2L Offshore model.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but actually Boscoe's butt is more pleasing to my eye than is that new "Darth Vader" looking cowling.

Boscoe is modest. He tightens up his sphincter when a camera gets aimed at it.
