Default PS assist

I'm having new hydraulis hoses made but I have the steering cylinder off and I think one of the pieces might have a small leak in it. It looks like it is a seal around the cylinder. Is this seal replaceable? I don't want to spend several hundred on a new cylinder if there is a seal kit of some kind that I can replace. Volvo steering cylinder is off a 1994 305CID Duoprop

The unit is stamped:
Volvo Penta PO4
852741

Do you have a seal kit for this unit??

Thanks,
Doug

Doug,

I checked with VP and that repair kit is NLA (no longer available). That cylinder part number is NLA as well. I would think that they would have to have some kind of replacement. I can call on Monday.....I will need a VP engine and drive model number to do so.

Good deal.

501DP
The outdrive is marked DP-A1.

I was told by the local marine shop that the engine model equates to an AQ 231?? They had told me that around the year my engine was made Volvo had some designations that were confusing and mine happened to fall into that. As a matter of fact I would love to get the correct facts on all my engine/outdrive numbers.

But that's the numbers the local shop had given me:

AQ 231
501/DP
and the outdrive tag says "DP-A1".

Thanks for helping me out,
Doug

Volvo says thatyour part numbercylinder and repairkit are NLA. No replacements.

I am confused on how that could be used on a 1994 VP since that part number was usedon the late 80s engines. Gas or diesel.

Volvo gave me a place to check out. They said this dealer deals in used VP parts and obsolete stuff. http://www.frenchcreekmarina.com/ Ask for Wilbur.
