Default UPDATE: Water in fuel indicator on Command Link?

Andy- I know the HPDI has the water in fuel alarm light on the c/l gauges. Is there any way to make my F150 C/L gauges have the same functionality, maybe with a harness or something, or is that all ECM controlled? Thanks!!

Joe,

I have to check and see if the water sensor that installs in the Racor element can be tied into the system. Other then that the F150 does not have a water sensor on the engine like the Z engines. That is a good idea though and I wish they all did.

Thanks Andy. The .pdf's you sent me on the C/L gauges on reference the water in fuel alarm in HPDI's; I didn't know if maybe they had changed that policy by now. I figure with the increasing use of ethanol..well you get the idea.

Joe,

I just checked the recent Yamaha tech bulletins and they just came out with a new fuel filters assembliesthis 2007 model year for all of the ECU controlled outboards....two and four stroke. All of these engines have the HPDI water alarm feature. Every model F50-F250 and all HPDI engines. Yamaha also introduced 10 micron versions of the under the cowl fuel filters too. They are still specing the boat mounted 10 micron filteras well.

What I have to see is if the new 2007 engine filter assemblies can be retro-ed to the older Command Link engines. As in your case.

Andy

Andy-If I am reading you correctly the water alarm is now standard in all new engine? What about the under cowl 10 micron filter?

Jevans,

I think the manufacturer date is April of this year....any EFI 4-stroke and all HPDI's manufactured after that date have the water sensoras part ofthe engine mounted filter and also have the 10 Micron under the cowl filter. The filters are not retro-fittable to thebefore April mannedengines.

You still need a 10 micron filter installed in the boat itself before the engine.
