Default Time for a new alternator. Upgrade to hi amp?

I have a Trojan 10M express with twin 350 crusaders and one questionable alternator. I have two dedicated starting batteries, plus one house battery with the intention of adding a second. My main DC loads are 1 refrigerator, water pump, vacu flush, stereo, lights, and electronics (radar, sonar, gps). I am adding an ice maker, 1kw sonar, upgraded stereo, and a 30" flat panel tv. I am looking to replace my 20 amp charger as well, and may add about 1kw worth of inverters (intermittent loads like a blender). My batteries are traditional wet cells, but I am open to changing them as well if there is good reason.

OK, now the question is, which alternator should I use? My mechanic is recommending a delco one wire, rated at about 75A. I think the stock alt on the other engine is likely running about 50A (it does not need replacing). Do I need, as Tim Allen says, MORE POWER?

Thanks for the advice.

Brett,

I would agree...go as big and as fancy as your budget will allow. I think that the Gel cells or more expensive AGM's are worth a look. You would not need to check your battery levels anymore with either type.
