Default Yamaha Ring Free Information

I just came across this information in some Yamaha technical information. Good Reading!

Current Ring Free pricing, discounts and shipping info can be seen by clicking this link http://www.shipyardisland.com/YamahaSpecials.htmClick the Ring Free link in the middle of the page. By the way..........we pick up the freight to you on case orders.

UPS ground shipping only and sorry but we can not ship RingFreeto Alaska or Hawaii due to the air freight involved.

Thank you,

Andy

Thanks for posting this Andy... as always, incredibly useful information.

I have a 2004 F225 with about 225 hours and haven't run Ringfree in the past. The tech info yu posted says that Ringfree "may" be used as shock treatment. Here's a question: Do I have to run the shock treatment first, or can I just start adding it to my fuel this spring and get similar results?

Technically..........you should doshock treatment. It definetly won't hurt.

With that being said and at 225 hours you could get away with a constant treat rate. I would suggest maybe running the ratio a bit "rich" for the first tank full or so. Change the spark plugs and then run the constant treat rate for there on in.

Thanks,

Andy

Andy, Thanks for posting this valuable info. I started out using ring free but stopped due to increased fouling and expense. I have been having my mechanic run my boat with a "shock tank" every 6 months or so to clean out that carbon build up....my question is......can I get away with my shock tank theory. How clean can a shock tank get my engine? It sure is cheaper.
Another question for you......How much is the YES warranty extension on a 2004 300HPDI for two years?
Thank you,
Jim

Is this product similar to Techron additive?
I only put Chevron gas in my 4 strokes. Its on the way to the ramp & price is similar to others.

If the Ring Free is used at the constant treat rate, I don't see why that would foul your spark plugs. Maybe there is another issue with that? But if you stop using Ring Free at the constant treat rate and the spark plug fouling issue went away then that says something......

You use that much Ring Free that its a cost issue? You must spend a lot of time boating/fishing

If you can please send me an email to parts@shipyardisland.com I would be more then happy to reply to that with a YES quote foryour Z300. Please include your engines fullprimary ID number. It starts with a "6".

Thank you,

Andy

Where does it say to use ring free in the warranty or owners manual?
I can see using a can every 200 hrs or so, but anything more seems to be gouging.
I can't beleive that Yamaha sales and service has stooped so low.
Three card monte anyone?

Barefootin,

Z300 and F225 Owners manuals pictures. Among several others manualsthere are several Yamaha tech bulletins out on the gasoline issues subject and if you look atyour PDI (pre-delivery inspection) sheets that you got when took delivery ofyour Yamahaengine there is a check box just for Ring Free and that you were advised to use it. If you did not get one(PDI) then ask your dealer for a copy.

Its really a big conspiracyby Yamaha tosell a product that no one needs. Don't use it.....no sweat of my brow....

Fld,

Ring Freeis only available in quarts and 12oz bottles. If you can find it in gallons, that would be very old inventory. They have not offered it in gallons in years.

Send me an email to parts@shipyardisland.com and I will reply to that and attach our current Ring Free Sales flyer.

Thank you,

Andy

Andy - have you ever heard of a situation where ring free causes a 4 stroke engine to "make oil" in small amounts? - I swear my dipstick is creeping up every 30 hours or so....

Nope... I have not.....btw when did you start using Ring Free? Or is it that you just have to have something that says "Yamaha" on board?

Can someone please explain how you do a shock treatment? is it simply doubling up the quantity for a whole tank or does it involve something else? I have also heard of putting a can of ring free in 3/4 of a gallon of gas with 2 ounces of oil and running that through the fuel line. Anyone know anything about this?

Also, is ring free meant to be used in every tank of gas that you put in the boat, every third tank or what?

Sfalls,

15-20 gallons of shocked fuel is all you need. The shock rate is 2oz per gallon. Never heard of the other item you suggested.

Use Ring Free after that shocker at the 1oz per 10 gallons of fuel rate.

Angler,

If it was me.........Iwould first do a shock treatment, then start using it at the 1oz per 10 gallons of fuel ratio.

Hi Skip,

Without a doubt, for sure, no question .......use Ring Free at the constant treat rate of 1oz per 10 gallons of fuel from the start.
