Default High Pressure fuel pump

Andy, my 99 yam 225 ox66 is losing rpms under load. I've checked the usual suspects--low pressure pumps, vst filter, o2 sensor, fuel lines...Is there a way to test the high pressure pump? I've pressed the pressure check valve while the engine was running and fuel did squirt out so it's kind of working. While you're at it, can you email your price for the pump?

Default RE: High Pressure fuel pump

Phil,

The OX66 has a Shrader(sp) type valve on the VST tank somewhere were you can connect a standard run of the mill fuel pressure gauge to . Connect it up and run it. Should maintain 36psi( I think with our checking the spec). If it falls off under load then something is a miss.

I would be checking that before I would go ahead and replace the pump. They are mucho $$$. Send me an email to parts@shipyardisland.com and*I will reply to that with a quote for you.

Thanks,

Andy

You can buy a fuel pressure gauge set up to measure it via a Shrader valve for about $50 at an autoparts store.

SIM is correct on the pressure output. It most certainly should be steady.
